Performances & Appearances: Derek, writing for just under four years, has made many a head turn with his work. He has been feature poet at Legacy Books & Caf?St. Louis, MO), Salon 2000’s annual fall fashion show (East St. Louis, IL). Derek has been on “See Hear” (AT&T cablevision) and Fox 2 morning news. Derek has been heard on NewBlackCity.com, 97.1 The Link and Q95.5 “Outspoken”. Derek has performed at Classic Black (Kansas City, MO), the 1st annual “Spoken Word Expo” (St. Louis, MO), Club Thirty Thirty (Chicago, IL), Precious Cargo, The Sisterhood Summit (both in Memphis, TN), The Apache Caf?Atlanta, GA) and The House of Blues (New Orleans, LA- hosted by poet/comedian Shang and poet/singer Isis Jones of Q95.5 St. Louis). Derek hosted the only and longest running erotic poetry venue in the bi-state area “Talkin Dirty” (now defunct) every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at Bumpers Nightclub and Restaurant in East St. Louis, IL.
