Comedy :: Stand Up Comedian
standup comedian
?ranney? has shared billing with Paul Mooney, Martin Lawrence, and Bill Bellamy as the premier house comedian at Laff Tuesdays, the World Famous Apollo Theatre?s professional comedy club. He has headlined all over the east coast and internationally featuring at London?s The Comedy Store, headlining at Dublin?s Comedy Cellar, headlining at London?s Casablanca, and headlining at Edinburgh?s Assembly Rooms and Holyrood Tavern. "ranney" has performed 8 one man shows in the last 10 years.
?ranney? is an award winning poet with room-shaking, prophetic verse. His hip conviction and emotional slams have won over audiences in Chicago (Hothouse ? headliner), London (Ferrago Poetry Slam ? headliner), and Edinburgh (Pleasance Dome ? host/headliner). ?ranney? was a member of the quintet of the Smash International hit The Bomb-itty of Errors that won The Stage award for best ensemble at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He was named best actor in the Tampa Bay area for his stirring performance as Boy Willie in August Wilson?s The Piano Lesson, and was recently nominated for best international poet by London?s Ferrago Poetry Group.
"ranney" engages audiences with charming storytelling, insightful rants, and true-to-life characters and situations. ?ranney? uses his own demons to keep incisive, social dissections from being self-righteous. His authentic curiosity and cathartic verbal intercourse makes for a refreshing approach to every topic. "ranney" is always unpredictable, gleefully unruly, and brutally silly.
He sings as well as the best singer, he portrays characters as well as the most seasoned actor, he rips rhymes that leave the world of hip-hop gawking, and his comedic exorcisms are events that haunt and enrich our lives long after witnessing them.
If you want a unique, refreshing night of comedy, be sure to catch "ranney" when he's in your town. |
