Ragan Whiteside is a classically trained Flutist, Songwriter, and Vocalist from Mt. Vernon, NY, a small city North of NYC which has touted such extraordinary talent as Denzel Washington, Dick Clark, Heavy D. and many others. Ragan began her musical studies at the age of 5, after her parents discovered she had perfect pitch. A piano, a drum set, and a violin later, Ragan focused her energies on playing the flute and studying classical music.
As she got older, Ragan discovered another love; Songwriting. After winning numerous competitions in both performance and music composition throughout the United States, Ragan attended the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Harid Conservatory, where she earned her Bachelor of Music - Performance degree in 1999.
Upon her return to New York in pursuit of her musical dream, Ragan switched gears from Classical to Jazz, Funk, and R&B. She has performed and/or recorded with various musicians, including Yours Truly (Bob Baldwin), Chuck Loeb, Marion Meadows, Buddy Williams, Grammy Award winning opera singer Esther Hinds, and the all female Jazz/Funk/R&B group SAGE, with whom she performs frequently around the NY-Tristate area.
Ragan has also written songs on two albums: Bob Baldwin's "The American Spirit" CD and "Brown Sugar", and has been featured on the CD101.9 (NYC) jingle. Ragan is currently writing and recording her first solo album, produced at The Uppa Room studios, which has produced hit material for Baldwin, Phil Perry, Will Downing, Freddie Jackson and many others. In addition to her Musical skills, the multi-talented Whiteside is also the designer of her own website RaganWhiteside.com, and is honing her audio engineering skills.
With so many talents, one never knows how you'll hear from....or see this extraordinary Artist in the future. All I can say is, consider yourself warned.
