A newly reorganized section on The Actor's Checklist now provides its users with a better approach to search and view the numerous opportunities to apply to and be on a reality television show. The section: "Reality TV, Variety Shows, Crowd Extras, and Booking Agents to Get Quick Media Exposure," has been reorganized to give web surfers better information on which reality shows are seeking applicants (or at least how to contact them when they do begin), a brief synopsis with general qualification criteria, and links to download applications. So whether you're looking for an extreme makeover, think you've got the hot looks and body that an audience would like to check out, are dying to play host to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, or just want to break into the fold at MTV, there's bound to be something here that's up your alley. And here's an added incentive: some of these listings are really funny to read even if you have no intention to apply! You can find them at: http://www.actorschecklist.com/resources/realitytv.html.

The Independent Black Film Festival has announced an exciting line-up of local, national and international films for the 2004 event! The festival will take place January 19-24, 2004, in Atlanta, Georgia. This grass-roots visual arts celebration will be a reflection of the dynamic convergence trend of urban content in various art forms. An estimated 15,000 people and 120 local, national and international industry delegates are expected to attend screenings, special events, panels and industry seminars throughout the week, when for the first time, Atlantas Magic Johnson Theater opens its doors for the IBFF festival. IBFF will be headquartered at the Atlanta Renaissance Hotel and the Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT). A Festival Village including a Cinema Lounge, Vendor Lounge, and dedicated Digital Technology rooms will be created for the Animation and Gaming enthusiasts. Festival highlights will include Bootcamps for Actors, Screenwriters and Movie Producers which will give each participant the opportunity to pitch/practice their audition skills, script/storyboard ideas and pitch sessions to a panel of film producers/distributors, casting agents and literary agents while receiving feedback as well as a chance to, perhaps, "get discovered." More. . .

This January, some 9,000 music professionals from around the world will again come together on the French Riviera for five days of working the trade-show floor, deal-making, networking, seminars, conferences, presentations, showcases and parties. The cause celebre is the 38th Annual International Music Market, otherwise known as MIDEM. The action is concentrated in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, where hundreds of stands promote the hottest recordings, products and catalogues. This is where the serious business gets done, and if you dont have a stand you can work from dedicated lounge areas and meeting rooms. More than two dozen conferences and seminars give you inside information into the most topical business issues. And you can choose from over 35 live performances, from the biggest international stars to intimate showcases of emerging talent. More...
