Bio: In the digital revolution that we are currently experiencing, many people make the common mistake of believing that purchasing an expensive (or not so expensive) top-rated camera will produce great photos. Unfortunately, many will look at the pictures they took and find that this simply is not the case. There is more to photography than buying a camera, and taking "pictures." That process is called taking "snapshots," regardless of the camera used.
PHOTOGRAPHY IS A SCIENCE! It must be studied, learned and applied. It takes professional photographers thousands if not tens of thousands of photos before they even begin to understand the science applied in this art. In fact, take a look at a "simple" definition of the word:
"Photography is the technique of recording and generating permanent images, by the capturing and preservation of physical stimulus-patterns on a layer of chemical material. It involves recording light patterns as reflected from objects, on to a sensitive chemical layer through momentary exposure. The process is done through mechanical, chemical or digital devices commonly known as camera.
The word comes from the Greek words "phos" ("light"), and "graphis" ("stylus", "paintbrush") or phos graph, together meaning "drawing with light" or "representation by means of lines", "drawing."
Photography is both a Science, as well as an Art. You can't have one without the other and expect great photos. This is what separates the Professional Photographers from the average "Point and Shoot" weekend photo enthusiasts. Several factors enter into taking a Professional Photograph, many of which are completely unfamiliar to non-professionals; Grey-scales, circles of confusion, depth of field, aperture settings, white-balance, drop-off, lens flare, composition, thirds, stops, and a host of hundreds of other scientific principles.
Gary S. Latimer, lead photographer comes from a distinguished family history of published photographers. His father and mentor, Stephen M. Latimer has been published in several magazines and papers and has traveled the world to capture some of the finest images of this century.
Schooled formally at Kean University in NJ with a Bachelor's of Arts degree (and currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration), Gary S. Latimer took his applied knowledge of over 25 years of photographic experiences and recently opened the newly re-organized ShoreShot Photography. He has several professional licenses in the state of NJ, has been bonded, and is even a member of a law-enforcement agency. Besides photography, Mr. Latimer is well schooled in Ethics, Professionalism, Law, Business Management, and other areas you would expect a "professional" to have knowledge of.
His work has been "Showcased" on many leading professional Modeling Sites while working with aspiring models. In addition, his works have been displayed for several billion people across the world to view on America Online in 2004!
Already armed with excellent Canon photography equipment, a complete upgrade and investment in higher level Canon Cameras and Lenses was done in 2004. In addition, all prints are done either in-house on Professional Level Epson Photography Printers or with selected contracted Processing Laboratories across the country to ensure fair pricing and quality of service. All in-house processing of images are done with professional level software including Photoshop, Corel PhotoPaint, Jasc Paint Shop Pro as well as several other specialized filters. In general, it would take an average person approximately 2 years to master the software components alone, let alone the actual process of taking properly exposed and carefully composed photographs.
With our services, you will always receive respectful and courteous service. In fact, we will never start a shoot without first interviewing the clients in detail about every facet of what they expect from us. Almost as important as taking a proper photo, is learning about the subject. With this knowledge, we are able to produce heart-warming images that will actually mean something to you. This can not be accomplished in a studio.... therefore, our style is aimed more at generating photographs that you will remember forever, rather than generic "studio-shots" that, while may be nice, won't make you stare in awe for years to come. This is our unique process, and we have yet to have an unsatisfied client. After all, when you hire us, you hire us because you are seeking something special. Unique. Classic. Everlasting.
The photography is all about YOU. YOU are what we base our business on, and it shows.
Thank you for taking the time to review this section and we look forward to serving your needs.
-Gary S. Latimer, Director
