Akira Torii is a Portland, Oregon native whose love affair with the camera began at a very young age.

Whether she is in front of the lens being captured on film, or behind the viewfinder capturing others, photography is one of Akira?s greatest passions. That passion turned into a career in acting when her family moved to Los Angeles in 1996.

Almost immediately Miss Torii caught the eye of a casting agent, and at age ten she landed her first role as a principal actor in a Converse commercial with Latrell Spreewell.

In the years since, Akira has worked extensively both behind and in front of the camera on television and in music videos. She has appeared on Nickolodeon's "Unfabulous" and "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide." She also appeared in the CBS hit "Numb3rs", and has been featured in music videos for a number of artists including Fefe Dobson, Pharrell, P Diddy and T.I..

Over the years Miss Torii has worked under the direction of many well-known commercial, film and video directors such as Paul Hunter, Diane Martel, Hype Williams and Chris Robinson. And, she has worked behind the camera as well, serving as director's assistant to both Martel and Hunter, and as set designer on the feature film "Anderson's Cross."

In 2006, Akira's appearance in T.I's Honolulu-filmed video "Why You Wanna" led to a new branch on her career path when she caught the eye of the editors of King Magazine and XXL. She has since modeled for features in both publications, and is currently considering offers for clothing line endorsements.

As much as Miss Torii loves being photographed, she also loves photographing others. Akira is a professional event and red carpet photographer, and has had her celebrity photos published nationally.

Currently Akira is working to perfect her craft as an actor and she is busy reading scripts -- her goal for 2008 is to find a challenging film role that will allow her to expand and expose her dramatic talents.
